About Us

From the Heart of Oklahoma

Born, raised, and educated in Oklahoma—Dr. Jane and Kari began as colleagues working together in state early intervention program efforts. By 2013, they had a published article, a request to do a keynote address for a conference, a product, and practical solutions that Dr. Jane had dreamed up for use by Kari’s son, Nick.

Michael joined the trio in 2018 and brings a tremendous background and insight working with young children struggling with communication disorders. Thriving in private practice, his background in child development and speech-language pathology brings a fresh perspective to meeting children where they are to move forward, practically.

Fiddle, Focus, Talk and Learn has been the tagline since the beginning. Dr. Jane and Kari have traveled together throughout the U.S. presenting to multiple audiences, published three articles together and a book. The product created for Nick is now manufactured in Oklahoma and sold by our company and many distributors across the U.S. and Canada. With their combined experience and expertise, the fiddling trio are a “must have” resource ready to work with you now and in the years to come.

The Fiddling Trio

Dr. Jane Humphries

As the inventor of the Fiddle Focus® products, the inspiration came from years of work with children, discussions and brain-storming with parents and teachers, and years of observations of her own child who was a "mover and talker". She also grew up in a household with a mom and dad who were incredibly talented and creative. It was her 80-year-old-mom that sewed the first proto-type as each creation was put together! Dr. Jane is determined to keep these items "Made in the USA" and is very proud that the products are currently being "Made in Oklahoma" by a family-owned business. Some of Dr. Jane's favorite activities include consulting, writing, community training and teaching in the higher education community. Dr. Jane lives in Oklahoma with her husband and two dogs. She also enjoys spending time with her son, daughter-in-law, and high-energy grandson.

Kari Rains, M.S.

Kari is a former Oklahoma State University Cowgirl basketball player and also enjoys writing books in the area of non-fiction/humor genre. She has two books,  Shakespeare Makes Me Puke and It Doesn’t Hurt That Bad and Other Lies My Mom Told Me featured within our online store. Her blog through our social media site provides inspiration and humor to parents and other adults working with young children each day and is internationally followed. She lives in rural Oklahoma with her husband and is the mother of three children, her middle child is a child living with Attention Deficit Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorder. She is able to use her knowledge and practical experience as a parent of a child with special needs to use in her writing, speaking, and intervention.

Michael Humphries, M.S., CCC-SLP, BCBA

Michael is the son of Dr. Jane and is the “mover and talker” she was proud to parent! Being “that kid” in the classroom, they both worked to support his learning while being a border-line ADHD child who grew up to work in the “perfect-fit” professionally. Receiving his education in Oklahoma, Michael is a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist and a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. As a man working in fields often dominated by women, Michael offers a unique clinical perspective to the children and families served at his private practice, Not Your Everyday Therapy Services in Oklahoma City. He also serves as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, the University of Central Oklahoma, teaching communication disorder classes and providing clinical supervision. Michael believes in the importance of advocating for all families and children. Living in Oklahoma City with his wife and two little boys, he enjoys time with them and summers at the lake.
